The Perfect Striped Tee

Clockwise from top left: French Sailor’s Shirt, L.L. Bean $30 / Striped Long Sleeve Tee, Vince $145 / Boatneck Tee, Chance $68 /Striped Boatneck, Edith A. Miller $78 / Striped Top, Harvey Faircloth $125 / 3/4 Sleeve Top, COS $34

I still don’t understand why it’s so hard to find simple classic pieces. It seems that retailers just can’t resist the urge to put a “twist” on anything classic, when really all I wanted was the basic item in the first place.

My latest item that I’ve been searching for is a basic long sleeve (and short sleeve) striped tee.

It needs to be a neutral color with white stripes, and the stripes need to be that perfect, slightly thinner Breton stripe. The neckline has to be either a boatneck or a slight scoop. The fabric should not be too thick nor too see-through, and it should be slightly fitted and hit at about hip length.

I know, I can be so difficult to please.

But as with anything, perfection is worth waiting for. So while I have been keeping an eye out for the perfect striped tee these six options have been on my radar. My favorite so far is the Chance tee, but I haven’t seen it in person yet, so we’ll see what it looks like once it arrives in the mail. Fingers crossed!

Have you found the perfect striped tee? What items are you searching for lately?

  1. I’ve seen those striped tees with the embellished shoulders and even I had to shudder at that. This one here is quite nice, but then again I have been drooling over everything on that website for a few days now.
